Long before Tales from the Crypt, The Twilight Zone or even Inner Sanctum, horror had a home on television. Tonight Eric goes old school to discuss Lights Out; television's original horror anthology series!

But Lights Out didn't start with television. In fact, TV is basically the end of the story! Long before television, Lights Out was a hugely popular radio show making it's debut in 1934. It was not the first horror-themed radio program, but it was the nastiest. This was thanks in large part to the show's creator/head writer, Wyllis Cooper who had a taste fore gore and a twisted sense of humor. When he left the show, an up and coming young writer named Arch Oboler took over and brought the show to even greater heights.

This is what Spookaroos of the 30's and 40's had as their doorway to horror. One particular episode was so memorable that it left lasting impressions on bth disgraced comedian Bill Cosby and novelist Stephen King...beware The Chicken Heart!
