Brian Toney is back to talk about his favorite subject, Satan! This time we're looking at 3 artist said to have sold their souls to the devil in exchange for talent: legendary bluesman Robert Johnson, "voice of a generation Bob Dylan, and the self-proclaimed king of pop, Michael Jackson. Especially Michael Jackson. Did these men actually strike a deal with old scratch, or is it all just misinterpretations of quotes and some silly hand gestures? You decide! Actually, don't. They didn't make deals with the devil. Don't be silly. But it's still fun to talk about!

Ep 07 The Salem Witch Trials w/ Jackie Weatherbee

Eric and guest cohost Jackie Weatherbee have a looong discussion about the witch hysteria that swept not just Salem, but much of the Bay State in the 17th century! Why did a group of girls go apeshit and start condemning their neighbors to death? Why did the government allow it to happen? How did it end and what happened to the survivors on both sides of the trial? All these questions and more will be answered on this episode of Spooky A S!

Jackie happens to be a guide at one of the museums in Salem (though, for legal reasons, we won't say with one) so she had a lot of good info to share. The problem is the podcast is only allowed so much bandwidth per month so we had to cut almost half of this episode out! But fear not! What remains is a very good primer on the Salem Witch Trials...you could totally pass a history test on it by listening. But if you want to hear the whole thing, keep an eye on our brand-new youtube page and good things may happen!

Just in time for St. Patric's day, Eric and guest cohost Tom Cole talk about two of the most famous beings in Celtic mythology, the Leprechaun and the Banshee! Are Leprechauns really the drunken tricksters we think of today? Will a Banshee come to kill you in the night with her soul-piercing screams? Who is more fun at a party: a Rat Boy or a Redcap? Find out on this special holiday episode!

Warning: This episodes contains animal noises which may have been mistaken for Banshee screams. You may find these noises terrifying...or just really annoying. Don't worry; they are short!

Also discussed: Why the show is called Spooky A S on certain providers, words Eric and Tom have trouble pronouncing, their plans for the holiday, Boston drunks, and the infamous Irish Goodbye (aka ghosting).

Lots of stuff had to be cut from this episode so be sure to look for additional content here in the future!

Welcome, foolish mortals! Join Eric and guest cohost
Aaron Cohen (webmaster of the Disney-focused website magicandmisadventures.com) as they give you a pretty in-depth history of the world's greatest dark ride, Disney's Haunted Mansion (or should we say "mansions"?). From Walt Disney's original concepts for the attraction right up to changes made to the attraction just a few years back, nary a stone is left unturned. It's a much lighter topic than normal because sometimes it's nice to take a break from "seriously spooky" to "silly spooky".  There was a lot that had to be cut for time on this episode so keep an eye out for bonus content down the road!

Warning: We do explain how some of the effects are achieved so if you don't want to know, cover your ears for that part!

Aaron explains some of the differences between the Disneyland and the Disney World versions of The Haunted Mansion and Eric tells us about the time he went to Disney World dressed as Jason Voorhees!
