Find/subscribe to us on iTunes! Eric Dwinnells and guest cohost Tom Cole are back and this time they are discussing two American cryptids (mysterious creatures of unknown origin): The Jersey Devil and The Dover Demon! The Jersey Devil has reportedly been seen for over 200 years in/around the New Jersey Pine Barrens and has even been known to venture into other states. But just what is this bizarre winged creature? Demon child or pure myth? Then the topic moves on to a creature spotted in the late 70's in Dover, MA. On the same night, two teens witnessed the same unidentifiable creature walking along the side of the road. One boy even chased it into the woods...and that's when things really got scary for him! Other topics covered on this episode include Tom's upcoming comedy gigs, Eric's continuing run with the musical HAIR and his unintentionally offending Tom's wife, bad dreams, and Eric's recent trip to NJ to meet a legendary performer. Theme music by Occultic Overtones Sorry gang, no show this week. As you may know, I am currently playing "Woof" in a production of HAIR. We opened last week and it was a VERY intense tech week/opening weekend and it put a lot of strain on my physically including my voice. I had a guest lined up for this week and she was going to come by tonight to record, but then she canceled on me last night. Given that and how worn my voice is, I decided not to do another solo ep but just rest this week. I plan to be back next week with a guest to bring you more Spooky Ass Shit. In the meantime, enjoys these pics from Hair!

It's our 10th episode! Double digits now, folks! Tonight, in a bit of an experiment, Eric try hosting alone...not because he wanted to, but because he and his upcoming guests are so busy, we just couldn't make schedules jell. So Eric goes solo. Good idea or bad idea? You be the judge. Tonight he's going to tell you all about the New England Vampire Panic that swept through the Yankee states from the 1700's-1800's. Lean all about why people thought vampires were stalking the New England countryside, how you could spot a vampire and how you could destroy them for good. The infamous case of Mercy Lena Brown of Exeter, RI is discussed along with some lesser known suspected vampires. Eric also shares a warning about doing improv while having a head full of spooky stuff. Improv! The scariest thing which will ever be discussed on Spooky Ass Shit! Tonight guest cohost Tom Cole and I discuss the legendary english boogeyman, Spring-Heeled Jack! We also talk about me playing "Woof" in the musical HAIR, Monsters in My Pocket, a fantastic old book entitled Strange Stories Amazing Facts, and how to breath fire...but mostly Spring-Heeled Jack! Jack was a creature that looked like a devil who would jump out and attack people with his metallic claws and breath of blue fire! He was also said to be able to jump very high as he evaded those who tried to capture him. But wait! An anonymous note to the Lord Mayor claims the whole thing started as a prank but the papers/police are covering it up because the main suspect has ties to royalty! Where does the truth lay? Decide for yourself after listening to the legend of Spring-Heeled Jack! |
